The Guinn family has been riding and guiding in the Canadian Rockies since the 1930’s, and established Boundary Ranch in 1987. Kananaskis Country was in development, and the Guinn’s were possibly the last of the real pioneers to open the west, building the Ranch in the midst of the Alberta wilderness. Though some trails remained from trapping days, many trails needed to be cut and cleared, the property fenced, and corrals built to safely house the horses. This was all accomplished without access to water or electricity and with no permanent living accommodations for the Guinn family who lived in trapper tents during the first year of operation.
Still family owned and operated, Boundary Ranch has grown and developed over the years, always with a hands-on approach, emphasis on western hospitality, and a strong connection to history and tradition. Celebrating the 30th summer of operations, the Ranch now operates year round and offers a range of activities with a focus on providing guests from all over the world with an authentic western experience.
